The biggest mistake most beginners make is booking the same courses as their low-handicap friends and having a miserable time. Course choice for newer golfers is everything — wide fairways, short layouts, forgiving rough, and a clubhouse culture that won't make you feel like an outsider.
Portugal's Algarve has more beginner-appropriate courses than anywhere in Europe — Par 3 courses, short layouts at proper resorts, and full 18-hole courses where a 28-handicapper plays perfectly well. Spain is similar. Turkey has resort courses designed specifically for the holiday golfer. We've played all of them and we know which ones work.

Questions we get asked
Do I need a handicap certificate to play abroad?
Most courses ask for a recognised handicap. If you're registered with England/Wales/Scotland Golf, your WHS handicap is recognised everywhere. Some resorts will play you without one — we'll advise per course.
What courses should beginners avoid?
Avoid links courses (too hard), courses with forced carries over water, and anything described as 'championship difficulty'. We'll steer you away from those automatically.
Can I get lessons while on holiday?
Yes — most resorts have resident PGA professionals. We can book lesson slots as part of your package.
